Ortronics/Legrand Introduces Momentum 2, the Next Generation Modular Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Cabling System New London, CT, September 15, 2006 – Ortronics/Legrand, a global leader in high performance fiber, copper and wireless structured cabling solutions, introduces Momentum 2, the next generation of the popular Momentum modular, pre-terminated fiber optic cabling system. Momentum 2 combines state-of-the-art optical ribbon cabling, industry-leading MTP® termination, advanced LC polishing and innovative hardware to create a cost-effective solution that provides a simple, quick, and high performing cassette-based fiber optic structured cabling system. Designed for use in mission critical data centers and storage area networks, the Momentum 2 pre-terminated modular fiber optic system enables quick deployment, eliminates the possibility of optical performance flaws, and provides increased flexibility for network design. Momentum 2 makes moves, adds and changes quick, easy and error-free, and ensures unsurpassed optical performance with superior optical fiber and best-in-class pre-terminated connectors. This next generation product improves upon the original Momentum offering with enhancements such as increased cable plant loss budget through reductions in DMD and Modal Noise; improved insertion loss cassettes and ribbon backbones; reduced backbone differential mode delay; increased fiber count ribbon backbones; maximized port density; improved ease of use; simplified systems design; and industry leading support for today's most demanding optical applications. The Momentum 2 system consists of cassettes and MTP to MTP ribbon backbones. The cassettes are available in 12-fiber SC or LC duplex and 24-fiber LC quad connector versions, with single-mode and leading 50/125 laser optimized multimode fiber (LOMF). Ribbon backbones are available in single-mode or 50-micron laser optimized multimode in 12, 24, 48 and 72 fiber counts. Coupled with Ortronics award winning Mighty Mo 6 racking system and the new FC series rack mount fiber cabinets, Momentum 2 cassette based structured cabling systems provide superior performance, flexibility and time savings.
